at last ……..

Touch down in Malawi!  I was met by my fabulous smelly team.  Got to know them quite well on our 6 hour journey in a 1960s hippy van bus.  Talked about he practicalities of camp life – apparently we fire down the hole aka doing your business.  Sounds nice!!!!

The journey was exciting and pleasant until the road sent us on a wild detour around a bridge which was under construction.  We arrived about 7pm in the pitch black to a warm welcome from the locals.  Ida is a legend she made the best grub ever.  Rice cabbage and cucumber has never tasted so good!  We put the mossy nets up (3 hours) then collapsed into bed.

Woke up at 7.30 expecting a freezing bucket shower but to our delight we have boiling water :-)  The shower is made from a block of cement surrounded by some amazing bamboo shoots.  It went down better than expected.

Now we are tucking into brecky! Rice crispies, papaya with extra ants!  we are getting a Chichewa lesson at 11 and then the kids have a welcome ceremony for us!  So excited…………………..  I will try and get some pictures for you all.
